About me
Vanessa Jacobsen is the Senior Director, Hematology Field Medical Affair at Regeneron. In her role, Vanessa is responsible for providing leadership in developing and implementing the hematology field medical engagement strategy.
Vanessa is a seasoned leader in assessment, development, and implementation of field medical strategies with significant product launch experience (> 15 NMEs and > 25-line extensions). She brings a diverse perspective with both medical affairs and health economics and outcomes research knowledge across multiple therapeutic areas (including Oncology, Immunology, Cardiovascular, Metabolics, Neuroscience, and Infectious Diseases) with 20 plus years of experience. She has extensive expertise across multiple channels including academic institutions, managed care, GPOs, IDNs, clinical pathway developers and the Veterans Administration. Vanessa is committed to building a best-in-class MSL team and developing both leaders and individual contributors.
Prior to joining Regeneron, Vanessa was previously at Gilead where she was a Senior Director in the Global Medical Engagement Center of Excellence. Vanessa was responsible for building MSL engagement standards and best practices, advancing the learning and development of MSLs and first-line field leaders, implementing systematic MSL impact performance measurement, and enhancing capabilities to address changes in the health care landscape. Prior to Gilead, she was previously at Nektar Therapeutics, as the Executive Director, Global Field Medical Affairs where she led the inaugural Oncology Field Medical build out providing leadership and oversight of global field based medical teams, including MSLs as well as Medical Value and Health Outcomes Liaisons. Prior to joining Nektar Therapeutics, Vanessa was at Johnson & Johnson, where she had increasing responsibility within Scientific Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Research and Oncology Medical Affairs over her 15-year tenure. Vanessa held the position of Strategic External Engagement Director in Janssen Oncology Medical Affairs where she developed customer centric medical engagement strategies to ensure alignment across all Oncology teams in providing a One Janssen approach with top academic institutions, NCCN and clinical pathway developers. Previously, Vanessa was the West Region Field Director for the Solid Tumor MSL team and Scientific Director in the Health Economics and Outcomes Research team supporting United Health Group where she led and executed cross portfolio engagements aligning business and scientific strategies. Before joining J&J, Vanessa was the Director, Formulary Clinical Services at Walgreens Health Initiatives and Director of Voluntary Formulary at Premier.
Vanessa received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with high honors from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy. She also completed an ASHP accredited residency in pharmacy practice with emphasis in primary care and a fellowship in solid organ transplantation, all at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Vanessa lives in San Diego with her husband and two children. Vanessa enjoys traveling and spending time on the sidelines of various sports fields throughout the US watching her sons play lacrosse.
